Brain Training Sessions

Neurofeedback at North Austin Neurofeedback

Your brain can change. And when it changes, symptoms change.

At North Austin Neurofeedback, we use advanced brain training (neurofeedback) to help children, teens, and adults improve focus, emotional regulation, sleep, anxiety, trauma symptoms, and overall performance — without medication-based side effects.

What Is Brain Training?

Brain training — also called neurofeedback — is a non-invasive method that helps your brain learn healthier patterns of activity.

We measure brainwave activity using safe EEG sensors placed on the scalp. The brain receives real-time feedback through visual or auditory cues. Over time, it learns to shift out of inefficient patterns and into more stable, regulated states.

Think of it as physical therapy for the brain.

How Neurofeedback Works

Neurofeedback is based on neuroplasticity — your brain’s ability to reorganize and form new connections.

  1. We conduct a brain scan (qEEG) to understand how your brain is functioning.

  2. We identify dysregulated patterns linked to symptoms.

  3. We create a customized training protocol.

  4. Your brain practices healthier patterns during sessions.

  5. With repetition, those patterns become more automatic.

The brain learns best through feedback — not force.

What Brain Training Can Help With

Neurofeedback may support individuals struggling with:

  • ADHD & focus challenges

  • Anxiety & chronic stress

  • Trauma & PTSD

  • Emotional reactivity

  • Depression

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Headaches & migraines

  • Peak performance for athletes and professionals

We frequently support clients who are already in talk therapy and want a biological complement to their emotional work.

Because talk therapy works “top down.”
Neurofeedback works “bottom up.”

Together, they can be powerful.

Brain Scan & Personalized Protocol

Every brain training program begins with a quantitative EEG (qEEG) brain map.

This allows us to:

  • Identify overactive or underactive regions

  • Detect patterns linked to impulsivity, anxiety, or mood instability

  • Create a personalized training plan

  • Track measurable progress over time

We don’t guess.
We measure.

What a Session Feels Like

Most clients describe sessions as relaxing.

You sit comfortably while watching a screen or listening to audio. When your brain produces healthier activity, the program responds positively (for example, the movie becomes brighter or the sound continues). When activity shifts out of target range, feedback changes.

There is no electrical stimulation going into the brain.

You are simply training your brain using its own activity.

Sessions typically last 30–45 minutes.

Is Neurofeedback Safe?

Neurofeedback has been used for decades and is considered low-risk and non-invasive.

Some people notice temporary fatigue or mild headaches early in training as the brain adjusts — this is usually short-lived and gives us useful data for fine-tuning protocols.

We carefully monitor symptoms and adjust training as needed.
