Drug-free, non-invasive brain training that targets the neurological roots of trauma — so your nervous system can finally feel safe again.
What Is Trauma?
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is not a sign of weakness. It's a neurological response to overwhelming experiences that the brain couldn't fully process at the time. As a result, the brain becomes stuck in a state of threat — even long after the danger has passed.
Research shows that trauma dysregulates key brain regions: the amygdala (your brain's alarm system) becomes overactive, while the prefrontal cortex — responsible for rational thinking and emotional regulation — becomes underactive. This creates the cycle of hypervigilance, avoidance, intrusive memories, and emotional flooding that defines PTSD.
Common PTSD & Trauma Symptoms:
Who Experiences PTSD?
PTSD is more common than most people realize. It doesn't only affect combat veterans — trauma can result from any experience that overwhelms the nervous system's capacity to cope.
"Existing treatments for PTSD — including prolonged exposure, cognitive processing therapy, and EMDR — are only partially effective. Nonresponse rates reach up to 72% in military and veteran populations, prompting researchers to evaluate alternative treatments such as neurofeedback."

The Science
Unlike talk therapy, neurofeedback works directly with the brain's electrical activity. Using real-time EEG monitoring, we identify dysregulated brainwave patterns and train them toward healthier, more balanced states — without drugs and without having to relive your trauma.
We begin with a quantitative EEG brain map — a precise, non-invasive snapshot of your unique brainwave patterns. This identifies the specific dysregulation patterns associated with your trauma symptoms.
Using your qEEG data, we design a targeted neurofeedback protocol specifically addressing your PTSD symptoms. No two trauma protocols are alike — yours is built around your brain.
During sessions, EEG sensors are placed on your scalp (no electrical current — they only read). You watch a screen or listen to audio that responds in real time to your brainwaves, rewarding healthy patterns as they emerge.
We track your brainwave changes session by session and adjust your protocol as your brain learns and improves. Most clients begin noticing meaningful changes between sessions 10–20.
Peer-Reviewed Evidence
Neurofeedback for PTSD is backed by a growing body of peer-reviewed clinical research, including randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews published in leading medical journals.

Your Treatment Journey
We walk alongside you every step of the way. Here's what a typical neurofeedback journey looks like for someone seeking relief from trauma and PTSD.
We start with a free consultation to understand your history, symptoms, and goals. There's no pressure and no commitment. We want to make sure neurofeedback is the right fit for you before we begin.
We conduct a comprehensive quantitative EEG brain map. This is completely non-invasive and painless — you simply sit comfortably while sensors read your brain's electrical activity. We use this data to build your personalized protocol.
Each appointment is a 60-minute block. Actual brain training time varies by individual and protocol — some clients train for 20 minutes per session, others for the full 30, depending on what your brain map indicates and how your nervous system responds. During training, EEG sensors are placed on your scalp and you watch a show of your choosing on Netflix. The feedback is audio-visual: the screen subtly brightens or dims and the audio gets louder or quieter in real time based on your brainwave activity — gently guiding your brain toward healthier patterns while you simply watch something you enjoy. Many clients begin noticing improved sleep and reduced anxiety within the first several sessions.
As your brain learns to self-regulate, symptoms typically continue to diminish. We monitor progress and adjust your protocol as needed. Most trauma clients complete 20–40 sessions for lasting results, though improvements often begin well before that.
Once your goals are achieved, some clients opt for occasional maintenance sessions to support long-term brain health. Others find the changes are lasting without further sessions. We'll work together to determine what's right for you.
Populations We Serve
Neurofeedback for trauma has been studied across diverse populations. At NATX Neurofeedback, we create individualized care for anyone carrying the weight of unprocessed trauma.
Combat-related PTSD, moral injury, and transition stress. We understand the unique challenges of military trauma and the limitations of standard VA treatments.
Police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and ER professionals who carry cumulative trauma from years of high-stakes service.
Adults living with the lasting effects of childhood abuse, neglect, or adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) — including Complex PTSD (C-PTSD).
Those who've experienced frightening medical events, ICU stays, or painful procedures that left a lasting neurological imprint.
Survivors seeking a healing path that does not require repeatedly recounting traumatic events in detail.
Neurofeedback is a well-tolerated, non-pharmacological option for young people dealing with trauma, school violence, or adverse experiences.
